The motor driver shield L293D is usually used as stepper motor drivers, DC motor drivers, or latching relay drivers. This shield is commonly installed on the top of an Arduino to add more pins and control many different motors at the same time. The L293D is an integrated circuit, 4 channel driver, high voltage, high current. It means that using this chip you can use DC motors and power supplies of up to 16 Volts, that is some pretty big motors and the chip can supply a maximum current of 600mA per channel, the L293D chip is also what’s known as a type of H-Bridge. The H-Bridge is typically an electrical circuit that enables a voltage to be applied across a load in either direction to an output, for example, motor.
- Input Voltage: 4.5V ~ 36V
